Red Sun Rising over Beautiful Mountains, silk mounting, ink and colors on paper. Inscription and signature by the artist: “Joyful welcoming the first spring of the 1980s in the year 1980, Wei Zixi.” Three seals of the artist: “Lao Wei”, “Zixi shuhua” etc.
According to the owners, from a private collection in Hesse, collected between 1970 and 2015
Wei Zixi was from Suiping in Henan province and graduated from Henan Art Normal School. He was active at the Jiangsu Chinese Painting Academy in Nanjing and was a noted painter of landscapes and figures. He is considered a prominent artist of the Jinling School of painting
